Computational Fluid Dynamics

Utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) during the design process can help companies increase insight into design performance, while simultaneously reducing physical testing costs and compressing project timelines. SECG’s CFD simulation services assist design teams with identifying design issues before physical prototyping or final production. This enables teams to rapidly optimize designs within a virtual simulation environment. Companies receive significant benefits both in cost and project lead time when utilizing SECG simulation services compared to traditional trial and error approaches.

CFD Applications

  • AERODYNAMICS
  • ELECTRONICS
  • FILTRATION
  • FLUID STRUCTURE INTERACTION
  • HEATING/REFRIGERATION
  • BUILDING HVAC
  • EROSION ANALYSIS
  • FLOW CONTROL
  • HEAT EXCHANGERS
  • MIXING

Fluid Structure Interaction

Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) simulations use advanced numerical techniques to solve complex problems that involve the interaction between liquids/gases and solids. For instance, a FSI simulation would be needed when fluid flow creates a pressure that deforms a solid body and, in turn, the deformation of the solid body changes the fluid flow. SECG utilizes advanced Ansys CFX CFD and Ansys Mechanical FEA software to couple the disciplines of fluid and solid mechanics to solve these types of complex problems.

Heat Transfer And Thermal Modeling

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can be also used to model heat transfer and thermal dissipation combined with fluid flow and pressure losses in equipment such as electronic enclosures, PCBs, and water jacketed castings for marine and compressor applications.
